+ and - side capacitor ?

Post by CBdicX »

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hello, i need to solder a new capacitor on the C25 spot.
What will the + and - side be for the C25 ?
This is a 4032 CBM mainboard.....

Thanks,
Dick

It's always best to work with the circuit at hand - without silk screened markings follow the traces to determine relative polarity.

With that said, If YOUR C-25 is right beside the heat sink, and in series with diode CR-12, then the positive side is toward the diode - the rear of the board. This configuration is also repeated twice more at C15/CR11 and C17/CR10. Note that on this particular board there is a little white "dot" silk screened beside the positive lead in all three places. Of course this assumes we're talking about the same board.

On one board (8032090) C25 is a poly cap between U17 and U18 - although the heat sink side is the negative end here, poly/mylars are not polarized caps.
Stranded in time. Surrounded by evil. low on gas.
