Next FCUG meeting - Sunday, May 20
Greetings, C= and Ami aficionados!
The Fresno Commodore User Group has its next meeting from 11 a.m. to
1+ p.m., Sunday, May 20, at --
The Pizza Pit Restaurant
2705 N. Blackstone Ave. (corner of Blackstone and Princeton)
Fresno, California
First up, we look over the new book, "The Future Was Here: The Commodore Amiga" by Jimmy Maher, and the slightly older book, "The Commodore 64 Book - 1982 to 199x" by Andrew Fisher. Then in software (and with the help of a PAL C64), we present some of C64 games and demos from Cosine Systems.
I'll report on my visit to the May 5-6 Vintage Computer Festival East. Obtained from that same show, I'll show off the C64 music program, "The Notable Phantom", which has the strangest musical keyboard overlay I've ever seen. Plus we'll see some raw video footage taken the show.
Naturally, there will be updates on the July 28-29 Commodore Vegas Expo and on hardware projects. We also try to catch up on the software and hardware that were left undemonstrated in previous meetings.
Another full meeting,
Robert Bernardo
Fresno Commodore User Group
http://videocam.net.au/fcug
P.S. Perhaps I can squeeze "Amiga, the Movie" into the agenda.

Next FCUG meeting - Sunday, June 17
Happy Father's Day, C= and Ami aficionados!
The Fresno Commodore User Group has its next meeting from 11 a.m. to 1+ p.m., Sunday, June 17, at --
The Pizza Pit Restaurant
2705 N. Blackstone Ave. (corner of Blackstone and Princeton)
Fresno, California
This month we look over the games and demos re-released from Triad. Then it's time to watch "Amiga, the Movie", which was delayed from last month due to technical difficulties. Also, we'll see video of CBM engineer Bil Herd at the May 5-6 Vintage Computer Festival East. I'll give an update on the July 28-29 Commodore Vegas Expo. In the more mundane but necessary category, we'll have a look at C64 disk manager programs. And ending the meeting, we'll see Commodore make cameo appearances in 2012 student video productions.

Next SCCAN meeting - Saturday, July 14
Greetings, Commodorians and Amigans!
The next meeting of the Southern California Commodore & Amiga Network is Saturday, July 14, from 2 to 4+ p.m. at
1401 N. Batavia #108
Orange, CA 92867
Note the new meeting site. Here is what Tim W. says about the place:
"Heart of Orange County 2 miles from Anaheim Statium and the Pond. It is a 2000 sq ft office with ample space for people to meet, and [there are] bathrooms. I have a projector and screen for use as well."
There are also several eating places nearby.
I'm bringing various Commodore and Amiga goodies which will probably be shown at the July 28-29 Commmodore Vegas Expo. Be sure to bring your own hardware and/or software to show and tell!
Speaking for SCCAN,
Robert Bernardo

Next FCUG meeting - Sunday, July 15
Happy summertime, C= and Ami aficionados!
The Fresno Commodore User Group has its next meeting from 11 a.m. to 1+ p.m., Sunday, July 15, at --
The Pizza Pit Restaurant
2705 N. Blackstone Ave. (corner of Blackstone and Princeton)
Fresno, California
This month we have a rerun (for those who missed it) presentation of Media Player 128 by Hydrophilic. Hydro asks for comments on his creation. Then we'll look at Martin Brunner's C128 Dual Monitor demo. Get ready to score the demo!
Then we'll examine two classic, rarely-seen bits of software for the C64 -- first, CCI Sub Warfare and CCI Subwar 64, the granddaddy of commercial C64 submarine simulators (long before GATO, Silent Service, Up Periscope!, Sub Battle Simulator, and Red Storm Rising), and second, Gemini: the Ultimate Disk Copier by Final Source Software Company.
Under new items, we'll watch Richard Bayliss' Escape from Zaphod, a game written with the 3D Construction Kit for the C64.
Finally, for the Amiga, it's time for the game, Space Spuds, a 3-D game used with the Haitex X Specs 3D Stereoscopic Glasses. Watch the enemies fly towards you!
This is the big meeting before the July 28-29 Commodore Vegas Expo. Final details and questions about the show will be ironed out. Also, later that afternoon/evening in a (secret) Fresno location, RB Productions will be filming CommVEx presentations for those members who want to present but cannot attend CommVEx.

Robert Bernardo

Next FCUG meeting - Sunday, August 19
Happy new school year, C= and Ami aficionados!
The Fresno Commodore User Group has its next meeting from 11 a.m. to 1+ p.m., Sunday, August 19, at --
Bobby Salazar's Mexican Restaurant
2839 North Blackstone Ave. (corner of Blackstone and Michigan)
Fresno, California
Note the new meeting location, just a few hundred feet north of our old location.
This month we welcome back Daniel Strang, our far-traveling visitor from the Netherlands. Last time Daniel visited us was 2 years ago. Daniel will tell us about his latest Commodore projects and give us news from the Netherlands Commodore Show, coincidently the next show being this Saturday, August 18.
Speaking of shows, we'll have a wrap-up of the July 28-29 Commodore Vegas Expo and see some raw video footage from CommVEx, including Roger Van Pelt's pre-recorded CommVEx presentation on printing with Commodore and HP inkjet printers. Since prototypes were the rage at CommVEx this year, we'll talk about Jim Drew's Supercard Pro and Greg Alekel's Comet Plus Internet Modem, and examine BIT-C='s C128 VGA adapter.
Finally, for your hardware pleasure, we'll have on hand a newly-obtained, fully-working CommodoreOne complete in a PC tower and Richard Hough's Amiga 3000 with OS 3.1.
Truly,
Robert Bernardo

Hi PSCUG fans,
The Puget Sound Commodore Users Group is meeting this Sunday:
Sunday, August 19, 2012 2:00 PM in Kirkland, WA (see below)
The Library in Sumner is CLOSED for August and September and we will be meeting at a different location for these two months. It is a lot further north than many of us are used to, but it is never too far for a Commodore event
I'm not putting the address in this email because it is a private residence (with lots of space). If you plan on attending, please email me, and I'll send you the address.
PSCUG is growing! Come join us for some Commodore fun.

Re: Commodore Clubs?
Does anyone know of a club in the twin cities area? I'd like to join and converse with my fellow commies.

Re: Commodore Clubs?
Is there a Commodore Club near San Clemente, California?
I would love to have some time to be in there for sure. Wanted to hear something new from the club it self.
