Hello from San Diego CA!
My first computer (eons ago) was a VIC 20...
I have a C64 I was given and when I turn it on all the words are just two white squares.
The computer runs because I typed in a print program and it ran but all the words are two little squares.
I'll try to post a picture if I can.
any ideas?
Tom

Re: Introcudtions ( and a cry for help!)
I had the same problem with a breadbox 64 back in the 80's and found out that the power source had burned out the ram chips which got extremely hot after a short while. You can try putting a cooler fan on the vents to the computer and changing the power pack but I suspect the chips are already fried. After I lost my first C64 to heat problems I went to yard sales just to find the old "air cleaners" they made for cigarette smokers. Removed the filters and turned them inside down on all of my Commodore equipment. I have these coolers on my disk drives, monitor, power supply and computer. Have not had a burn out since.

Yes, it can be fixed. Or the entire machine can be replaced.
