Commodore PET 3032

Post by crasher »

Hi all

I recently aquired a working PET 3032, reuniting me with the machine that launched my life in computers and programming at the tender age of 13 (still going strong 30+ years later)!
I should add that over the many years i have worked my way through PET's, Vic20's, C64's, the range of Sinclair machines (UK), right through to modern-day machines; but to get my hands back on one of these PET's has really been a a personal journey. I wrote my first programme, my first game (it got published too) and used one to produce my course projects for my O and A level computing qualifications (UK specific, not sure what the equiv would be in the US - taken at 16/17 and 18/19 years old).

From what i can gather, i am running Basic 2.0 or 3.0. The machine itself works well (apart from an anoying dot appearing in the centre of the screen when you power down).
I'm using an old C64 tape deck with it, without issue, and thanks to your site i am now re-aquainting myself with BASIC (after a many-year break).

Given how old these things are, what are my chances of finding someone who has the ROM upgrade that would give me BASIC 4.0?? Anyone?

As another question. I have a ribbon cable that is fixed to the main board, and it comes out of the case (right-hand-side). My first instincts tell me this may be for external floppy drive? Anyone have any clues?

Regards

Barry
