Next FCUG meeting - Sunday, Sept. 15, 2024

Post by rbernardo »

Happy Star Trek Day, C= and Ami aficionados!

The Fresno Commodore User Group has its next meeting from 11 a.m. to 2:30+ p.m., Sunday, Sept. 15, at

Panera Bread Restaurant
3590 W. Shaw Ave. (corner of W. Shaw Ave. and Marty Ave.)
Fresno, CA 93711
(559) 271-0104
http://www.dickestel.com/meet_loc.htm

For discussion, we’ll talk about LCD monitors vs. CRT monitors (hmm, a GE 7-7800!). Once again, we’ll discuss our October 6 picnic dinner and the various shows where we will be exhibiting – Rocklin Maker Faire, Bay Area Maker Faire, and possibly the Amiwest Show.

In C64 software, we'll go back to the game software that we didn’t properly present at the September meeting. However, we won’t neglect new releases, such as Spelunky 64, Grey, River Barrage, Nixy2, and Splatch.

On the Amiga side, the AmigaOne A1222+ returns, and this time we will be looking at A500/1200 games running through its emulator, E-UAE. The games will be classic games and new games, such as MetroSiege, DonkeyKong500, Dr. DangerousV6, and QuasaurusXDemo.

Truly,
Robert Bernardo

FCUG picnic lunch - Sunday, Oct. 6, 2024

Post by rbernardo »

Happy National Bunny Day, C= and Ami aficionados!

The Fresno Commodore User Group has its traditional “picnic” lunch from 11 a.m. to 1+ p.m., Sunday, Oct. 6, at

Andiamo Ristorante Italiano
1275 Shaw Ave., #120 (across from the Sierra Vista Mall)
Clovis, CA 93612
(559) 298-3196

Secretary/Treasurer Dick E. recommends the calzone – a meal in itself! :)

All members of FCUG and their families are invited, and the club will pay for the lunch.

We won’t necessarily be talking about Commodore and Amiga computers, but I will bring the latest FCUG Interface newsletter to distribute.

See you at the lunch!

Happy National Cappuccino Day, C= and Ami comrades!

The next meeting of the Southern California Commodore & Amiga Network is Saturday, Nov. 9, from 2 to 5+ p.m. at

Panera Bread Restaurant
19662 Nordhoff Street
Northridge, California
(818) 407-9400

In discussion we'll talk about the shows that happened in October -- the Rocklin Maker Faire, the Bay Area Maker Faire, and the Amiwest Show.

In hardware, we play around with the fully-working A600GS, the little AmigaKit box that runs OCS/ECS/AGA games and sports the Amibench
desktop. I can tell you the trials, tribulations, and quirks in getting the A600GS to run. The Ultimate 64 returns with the latest C64 games, like Orbix and the Forgotten Forest 2. The VIC-20 comes in with the SD2IEC drive loaded with plenty of software.

Feel free to bring your own machines and software to the meeting!

Sincerely,
Robert Bernardo

P.S. We may have extra, classic Amiga hardware coming in for diagnosis!

Happy National Vanilla Cupcake Day, C= and Ami aficionados!

The Fresno Commodore User Group has its next meeting from 11 a.m. to 2:30+ p.m., Sunday, Nov. 17, at

Panera Bread Restaurant
3590 W. Shaw Ave. (corner of W. Shaw Ave. and Marty Ave.)
Fresno, CA 93711
(559) 271-0104
http://www.dickestel.com/meet_loc.htm

For discussion, we’ll talk about the Commodore/Amiga events that happened in October plus a slideshow/brief videos of those events. We'll even look at a classic VIC-20 letter written by actor/author/director William Shatner!

In C64 software, we'll try out the newish games, such as Portal Buster, Mushrooms That Grow in the Woods, Orbix, the Forgotten Forest 2, and Battle for Cronos. On the VIC-20 side, we have the SD2IEC filled with the a huge amount of programs.

On the Amiga side, the AmigaOne A1222+ returns, and this time we will be looking at the most popular OS4 games that the public tried out at the Rocklin Maker Faire, the Bay Area Maker Faire, and even the Amiwest Show 2024. Also we look at three... count 'em, three... Amiga 2000's in various states of disrepair. (To be repaired, eventually...)

Happy Christmas Lights Day, C= and Ami aficionados!

The Fresno Commodore User Group has its next meeting from 11 a.m. to 2:30+ p.m., Sunday, Dec. 8, at

Panera Bread Restaurant
3590 W. Shaw Ave. (corner of W. Shaw Ave. and Marty Ave.)
Fresno, CA 93711
(559) 271-0104
http://www.dickestel.com/meet_loc.htm

Note that we are meeting on second Sunday of the month, instead of our usual third Sunday of the month.

For discussion, we'll have our election of officers, the April 2025 Los Angeles Maker Faire, the April Commodore Los Angeles Super Show, and the June Pacific Commodore Expo NW. Of course, we will be talking about Christmasy stuff, too!

In hardware and software, we play around with the fully-working A600GS, the little AmigaKit box that runs OCS/ECS/AGA games and sports the Amibench desktop. I will show the installation of an .ADF onto the A600GS. The Ultimate 64 returns with C64 Christmas games as does the VIC-20 with its Christmas games.

Even Amiga Christmas games!
