Next FCUG meeting - Sunday, Sept. 15, 2024
Happy Star Trek Day, C= and Ami aficionados!
The Fresno Commodore User Group has its next meeting from 11 a.m. to 2:30+ p.m., Sunday, Sept. 15, at
Panera Bread Restaurant
3590 W. Shaw Ave. (corner of W. Shaw Ave. and Marty Ave.)
Fresno, CA 93711
(559) 271-0104
http://www.dickestel.com/meet_loc.htm
For discussion, we’ll talk about LCD monitors vs. CRT monitors (hmm, a GE 7-7800!). Once again, we’ll discuss our October 6 picnic dinner and the various shows where we will be exhibiting – Rocklin Maker Faire, Bay Area Maker Faire, and possibly the Amiwest Show.
In C64 software, we'll go back to the game software that we didn’t properly present at the September meeting. However, we won’t neglect new releases, such as Spelunky 64, Grey, River Barrage, Nixy2, and Splatch.
On the Amiga side, the AmigaOne A1222+ returns, and this time we will be looking at A500/1200 games running through its emulator, E-UAE. The games will be classic games and new games, such as MetroSiege, DonkeyKong500, Dr. DangerousV6, and QuasaurusXDemo.
Truly,
Robert Bernardo

Next SCCAN meeting - Saturday, Nov. 9, 2024
Happy National Cappuccino Day, C= and Ami comrades!
The next meeting of the Southern California Commodore & Amiga Network is Saturday, Nov. 9, from 2 to 5+ p.m. at
Panera Bread Restaurant
19662 Nordhoff Street
Northridge, California
(818) 407-9400
In discussion we'll talk about the shows that happened in October -- the Rocklin Maker Faire, the Bay Area Maker Faire, and the Amiwest Show.
In hardware, we play around with the fully-working A600GS, the little AmigaKit box that runs OCS/ECS/AGA games and sports the Amibench
desktop. I can tell you the trials, tribulations, and quirks in getting the A600GS to run. The Ultimate 64 returns with the latest C64 games, like Orbix and the Forgotten Forest 2. The VIC-20 comes in with the SD2IEC drive loaded with plenty of software.
Feel free to bring your own machines and software to the meeting!
Sincerely,
Robert Bernardo

For discussion, we’ll talk about the Commodore/Amiga events that happened in October plus a slideshow/brief videos of those events. We'll even look at a classic VIC-20 letter written by actor/author/director William Shatner!
In C64 software, we'll try out the newish games, such as Portal Buster, Mushrooms That Grow in the Woods, Orbix, the Forgotten Forest 2, and Battle for Cronos. On the VIC-20 side, we have the SD2IEC filled with the a huge amount of programs.

In discussion we'll talk about the current fires affecting Commodore members in the Los Angeles area, the February Vintage Computer Festival SoCal, the April Los Angeles Maker Faire, and especially the April 26-27 Commodore Los Angeles Super Show.
In hardware, we look at the Greaseweazle v4 newly-built into a case and having a 3.5” disk drive and a 5.25” disk drive. (Greaseweazle is a small, electronics board which permits “versatile floppy drive control over USB. By extracting the raw flux transitions from a drive, any diskette format can be captured…” and thus it can transfer a floppy disk into a disk file and vice versa.)
In software, we have the A600GS and/or the AmigaOne A1222+ with the latest Amiga games, like Revenge of the Grinch, Santas Present Drop 4 – Grunge’s Revenge, Ami Robbo 2, Yoomp!, the Rastan demo game, the Vigilante demo game, and Bunnito’s Feast. The Ultimate 64 returns with the latest C64 games, like Tank in a Dungeon, Soiled Iron, Santa’s Workout 2, Captain Ishtar 2, Toki C64 demo game, the Pretzelves, Twintris Deluxe, Golf Dash Extended, and Schreckenstein 65. Discussion will run the gamut from the forthcoming A1222NG board (Amiga) from AmigaKit to the new MSXBOOK laptop (non-Amiga) to news
about the Ultimate 64 Elite-II boards and C64OS v1.07. And I'll give a plug for the April 26-27 Commodore Los Angeles Super Show in Burbank.
The AmigaOne A1222+ returns with the latest Amiga games -- Castlevania AGA, Sky Shapers, the Operation Steel Rain demo, Sokoban, Skillgrid, and the music game, Tracker Hero. For Amiga OS 4.0/4.1, maybe we'll even try out AmiArcadia (which emulates older machines). Our usual Ultimate 64 comes back with new games -- Abysmal Karma - Part 1!, Centipede, Platman MC, Ladybird, Man Cave, and Mike Mech 2. On the VIC-20, we get to the games we couldn't get to at the last meeting, and we'll check out the new one, Columns.
Sincerely,
Robert Bernardo

We'll talk about the April 12 Los Angeles Maker Faire and especially about the April 26-27 Commodore Los Angeles Super Show. CLASS is getting so near! And the CLASS presentations' list keeps growing! I'll talk about the reopening of Bernardo Studios just in time for filming the CLASS commercial.
Hopefully, v.p. Roger will inform us on his progress about running CP/M from a SD2IEC on the C128. Also we have a GEOPaint disk to investigate; the user wants his graphics converted to .PNG's.
On the AmigaOne A1222+, we'll look at the new games, Trapped in the Tomb and Evil Dungeon 3. On the Ultimate 64, we'll look at the new game, Zookeeper. With the Revision 2025 demoparty coming in mid-April in Germany, we'll also view various, amazing C64 and Amiga demos from Revision 2024.

Next FCUG meeting - Sunday, April 13, 2025
Happy International Carrot Day, C= and Ami aficionados!
The Fresno Commodore User Group has its next meeting from 11 a.m. to 2:30+ p.m., Sunday, April 13, at
Panera Bread Restaurant
3590 W. Shaw Ave. (corner of W. Shaw Ave. and Marty Ave.)
Fresno, CA 93711
(559) 271-0104

Note that our meeting is on the second Sunday this month and not the third Sunday which is Easter.
We'll talk about the April 12 Los Angeles Maker Faire (which happens the day before our meeting) and about the April 26-27 Commodore Los Angeles Super Show. The CLASS commercial for Youtube should be ready, and we'll look at that.
Vice-president Roger will have a presentation about running CP/M from a SD2IEC on the Commodore 128. Since we ran out of time to see all Revision 2024 demos at last month's meeting, we will look at amazing C64 demos from that demoparty. Also on the A600GS, we'll try out a slew of games that have been downloaded from the A600GS webserver, games such as Assimilation, Biplanes, Blitz Bombers, Deluxe Galaga, Furball, Movem, and more.

P.S. As for International Carrot Day in my greeting, you celebrate it by playing Ninja Rabbits on the C64!
