Wanted CBM-II or PET-SK machines
Hi,
I am looking for any CBM-II (B or P-series) or PET-SK (8296, 8296D) machines for my collection. Prefer high-profile or SK machines (built-in monitors). I will take non-working machines as well.

I found an 8296 in the UK on ebay. Brand new in box. It would have cost over $300 canadian to ship it to me. Decided that was too much. The unit ended up selling for a ridiculous price anyway. Shows that they are still around if you look though.administrator wrote:Hi Steve;
Nice to see you are still moving the C= circles.
I look forward to your new site. Feel free to post a link and comments in this forum.
As for your SK's, we have nothing available at this time... sorry!
I picked up a B128 from ebay a couple weeks ago.

Steve,
Do you think you might be interested in showing and/or giving a demonstration of some of your more obscure Commodore comptuers at the World of Commodore? Even if not, you should still come and check out the festivities.

I have the WOC show written on my calendar. The thought crossed my mind to go. I remember going to all the old shows at the International Center in Malton. We'll have to see if I can make it.gklinger wrote:Steve,

I'm not sure about demos. The only obscure machine I have would be my CBM-II prototype. I do have the P500 but I would classify that as rare not obscure

Hey, I managed to get to the show. Could only stay for the morning though and had to leave (12:30 or so). I saw your nametag on the table on my way out. Sorry I missed you.gklinger wrote:Steve,

Picked up a broken C128DCR for $40. Powers up but doesn't access the internal drive. Has a JiffyDOS 128D ROM in the machine so not sure if that is the problem or maybe it's one of the other chips. Picked up a 1581 drive (complete) as well as two 1581 kits (no drive mechanism). Also picked up a few freebees! All in all an interesting show. Nice to meet some fellow Commodore people.

The funny thing is that I was there from 9am on Saturday. I just forgot to go get my nametag until sometime in the mid-afternoon. D'oh! We probably walked past each other multiple times without knowing what one another looked like (I'm the second guy from the right in this photo). Oh well. I guess we'll meet up at the next World of Commodore.sjgray wrote:Hey, I managed to get to the show. Could only stay for the morning though and had to leave (12:30 or so). Ya, I saw you. If I recall, you were mostly in the test area in the morning. But you weren't the only one NOT wearing a nametag...gklinger wrote: The funny thing is that I was there from 9am on Saturday. I just forgot to go get my nametag until sometime in the mid-afternoon. To answer my own question...
CBM 8296 on eBay.
sjgray: Do you know what he paid for that computer? I'm curious how big of a gouge this guy is going for.

The old auction I saw was from a guy in the UK. I contacted him when the auction first started to get a shipping quote. I was quoted a range of 130 to 170 GBP which I would have considered paying if the unit sold for a reasonable price. It didn't....
Ebay ID= 220048472119
sold for GBP 650 ($1,274 US), winner zizmo1
Original ebay auction finished Nov 19th,06
zizmo1 is the ID for this new one...
Ebay ID= 320078376265
The pictures are exactly the same in both.
Lucily, I was able to pick up a CBM8296 machine last month. It's not in great shape cosmetically... the keyboard and monitor are tan but the main unit is white, plus it had a few stickers and permanent marker writings. It does however work fine. Still looking for more machines in this style case (even if dead)...
