Last year Bil Herd and Dave Haynie had us premiere their video of rare Commodore hardware.
This year Bil and Dave are going to work on another special video
for us to see at CommVEx. I wonder what they will produce for us this
time. :-)

Just received the message from them,

Last years video can be sourced from our video page:

What is the status of that video? IIRC there was some confusion as to whether it was freely distributable or not (if it is the video I'm thinking of). Very confusing. :(

I asked Dave Haynie about that last year when the video came out. He said that there were no problems with copyright. Hence, we have no problems with distribution. Now if people were to start marketing that video for profit, then Dave and Bil would probably have a problem with that.

Thanks for the clarification, Robert.

Here is the latest update from Bil Herd on the video being produced for
CommVEx. Of course, I said yes to the t-shirt. :-)

Working on it today as a matter of fact.

Would you guys like a book or a commodore tshirt signed by some of us
(we have a third very person joining us for the video) or is that too
hokey?

Nice article in the times.

Just received a message from Dave Haynie this morning. He's now going to mail the video DVD and raffle "swag" to Las Vegas.

Crossing my fingers that it gets to us in time,

Today I received some great news from Dave Haynie, CBM engineer,
in regards to this year's video that is to premiere at CommVEx. Read
below.

On Sun, 23 Jul 2006 12:01:14 -0400 (EDT), Robert Bernardo
<rbernardo> jammed all night, and by sunrise was heard
saying:

[snip]

> Vigil, to where should I direct them?

Send them to the Frog Pond Media web site,
http://www.frogpondmedia.com.

I'll also have the show video available there, if anyone's interested.

The DVD I sent has two new videos; one where Bil, Bob Russell and I
basically address the crowd, and a longer one that we decided is an
interview with Bob Russell. The DVD also includes last year's video.
And there's a second DVD with has WMV/HD versions of both new videos,
just in case you have a PC or high-def DVD player hooked up to your
video system :-)

I also included one copy of the DBV DVD, one of the user group DVD, and
Bil included a copy of Brian Bagnell's book with our signatures. Use as
door prizes, bird-cage-liner, whatever.

We started CommVEx with the now-traditional video greetings from Bil Herd, Dave Haynie, and new greeter, Bob Russell. They spoke about their behind-the-scenes dealings with CBM. We'll see part 2 of the video tomorrow. (Those EXTRAS on the DVD are weirdly interesting.) :-)

Yes, we saw the last part of the video today, and near the end of the day we saw most of Dave Haynie's Deathbed Vigil video which recorded the last day of CBM before it was closed forever. The Deathbed Vigil video came in a package as a special-edition DVD with extras! It too was given away as a door prize. More information on how to purchase the Deathbed Vigil video can be found at http://www.frogpondmedia.com

Here's a video update from Dave Haynie.

-------
Date: 08/21/06 04:32:38
Subject: "Animals" user group videos online

Just an FYI: Last year's user group video is up on YouTube.com:

[if that doesn't work, just go to www.youtube.com and search for "user group", then look for "C128 Animals 2005 User Group Video".

Where it stays, I guess, until they decide otherwise. I'll have the others up there too, as soon as I have a chance to re-render them small and upload 'em.

Dave has now uploaded to Youtube the video presentation which premiered at CommVEx 2006. The video is divided into two parts - the C128 Animals 2006 User Group Video and the C128 Animals 2006 Bob Russell Interview. Go to http://www.youtube.com and search for C128 Animals or for hazydave in order to see the videos.

For high-quality video, FCUG presents NTSC DVD-R's, VHS tape, and Beta tape copies of the original premiere DVD (well, barebones in comparison to the menued premiere DVD) for just the cost of the materials and post and packing. Contact me via e-mail if you are interested in the high-quality version.

Looks as if I'll be distributing some of these DVD-R's for free at the Emergency Chicagoland Commodore Convention on September 30.
