This year CommVEx v2 will be at the classic Plaza Hotel & Casino, 1 S.
Main Street, in fabulous downtown Las Vegas. The Plaza offers
reasonably priced, nice, comfortable rooms.

Don't forget... you only have until June 28 to reserve a room at the
CommVEx hotel, the Plaza Hotel in downtown Las Vegas. I've been told
that there are still rooms available. Don't forget to mention the
CommVEx name when reserving your room so that you can get a 20% discount.

A block of 10 rooms have been set aside for CommVEx. The rates are $61
per night Friday and Saturday, and $31 for Sunday night (all prices not
including room tax).

The above pricing is for single or double occupancy. $10 per extra
person per night, maximum of 4 people per room. Hotel occupancy tax
is 11%. Check-in time is 3 p.m.; check-out time is 12 p.m..
Reservations are to be confirmed through individual call-in prior to
*June 28, 2006*, by calling the Central Reservations Department at 1
800 634-6575 option 2 and saying that you are reserving under the
group name, CommVEx. After June 28, any rooms remaining unsold will be
released back to the hotel, and the group rate may not be available.
Note: Saturday arrivals are not accepted unless approved by the
Director of Sales or Central Reservations Manager. (If you think
you'll be arriving on Saturday, tell me, and I'll try to work out
something with the Plaza.)

There will be a $50 refundable deposit required should you wish to
bill phone calls, food, etc., to your rooms. This deposit will be
used toward any unpaid incidental charges.

The Plaza has a 24-hour gambling casino, several restaurants including
a 24-hour coffee shop, showroom, tennis courts, a pool, and free
parking. The Plaza Hotel lies at the foot of the glittery Fremont
Street Experience. The Las Vegas Strip with its out-of-this world
hotel casinos is a few miles to the south.

Today I received an e-mail from Brian, one of our CommVEx guests.
In the message, he apologized for not staying at the official hotel, the Plaza.
He was going to stay at Ballys. No problem! Las Vegas
has hundreds of hotels. No one is obligated to stay at the Plaza.
In fact, for most of my stay in Las Vegas, I'll be
at the cheaper Nevada Palace, only moving to the Plaza on
the last night when the Plaza matches the Nevada Palace's price.
The only thing to be concerned about is how to get to the
Plaza if you book a different hotel.

Only 4 days left to reserve a room at the Plaza Hotel for CommVEx! Then the prices rise!

Remember... if you have missed out in getting the discounted price at the
Plaza Hotel, there are hundreds of other Las Vegas hotels.

I arrived into Las Vegas last night and now am at the Nevada Palace Hotel. However, I may be switching rooms later today in order to find one on the ground floor (just too much computer stuff to keep lugging in the elevator).

O.K., if anyone needs to contact me, I am in room 128 (think Commodore 128) of the Nevada Palace Hotel & Casino, phone 1 800 634-6283 or 1 702 458-8810.

Time marches on. I received the following from Al Jackson, president of the Clark County Commodore Computer Club. See below.

------

The Nevada Palace on Boulder Highway will be torn down to make way for a second Cannery casino.

There go my cheap digs for next year's CommVEx v3,
