No Powerupply. What to do?

I was given a power supply-less Commodore 64...
I would "like" to use a PC power supply since they are regulated, and switching...
Is there anything I can possibly do to get this thing started? I am afraid of getting an official C64 power supply, after hearing about how dangerous they are..
I tried using this one, but mines circuit board was different..

Hi Hakemon;
I am certain there is a way to get a modern power supply to function but I would not want to put in the serious effort required.
The first batch of C64 power supplies were dangerous in that a small number of them overheated and caught fire (or started the paper, curtians... near them on fire). I think you can state that most of those are dead now. Also, because you are aware of the issue, you would be carefull enough not to stack paper on them.
We have no spares but you can source them everywhere:
1: There are a bunch in our BUY / SELL / GIVEAWAY Forum
viewforum.php?f=3
2: Ebay:
http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dl ... wer+supply
3: Your local GoodWill, Savation Army... store
4: Your local Commodore club.

Ok thanks. My father just called me alerting me bought a C64 power supply.
He told me it was a 4-pin power connector, but the person that sold it said they do work on a C64 with a 7-pin socket..
How is this so?
