The original Commodore PET versions of Catacombs and Goblin Towers (Supersoft, 1981) have been recovered and preserved. Both were thought lost for over four decades — Catacombs is considered the first professionally distributed British adventure game, and until now only the later C64/DOS remakes had survived in any form.
The games were preserved from original disks provided by Colin Haynes, and both are now freely available to download. A video documentary covers the recovery from start to finish, including a breakdown of the game protection Brian Cotton built into the 1981 BASIC program.
