Last year I got a Commodore CBM Model 8032. I like that old computers really, but it needs some work.
One thing that I can't solve myself - or I at least need hints were to start - is, that the screen shows characters in every 2nd column, right after switching on. And if I type, even the typed in character changes. I hope it is visible in the picture.

I already took out the mainboard and cleaned it completely - but it seems some chip has an issue. Can anybody lead me to the direction which one it is and how to test it (I even have a oscilloscope at my disposal).
Here is the mainboard of the computer:
The attachment CBM_board.JPG is no longer available
Btw.: Shortly after I picked it up from the post office it worked - but only for an hour or so:
The attachment CBM_working.JPG is no longer available
The working computer - sadly that didn't last too long.
Can anybody help?
Thank you very much!

Well, the picture shows only a normal startup screen
At least for me this is the only picture that appears in your post.

There might be a problem with the CRTC chip memory access.
