I'm not sure if this will help either of you... but I have a copy of the 8250lp/SFD-1001 Technical Manual on my website at http://mysite.verizon.net/wiskow

Not really... it's only the drive mechanism (non-commodore), not the "commodore" parts like the main board or analog board... but thanks anyway.

That's bad news for you're SFD1001 :(
Those 6530 are very difficult to come by.
I have three SFD1001 drives, one has a defective 6530 too.
Theoretical the 6530 can be replaced with a 6532 with the right adaptor.
Something I'm certainly going to try one day when I find the time for it.

I also have 3 SFD's so sacrificing one is not a big deal. I would like to get the drive working again... The Atari 2600 seems to be the best source for the 6532 chip. But I'd need to find the schematics for the 6530 to 6532 adapter board.

The service manual finally arrived.
The original was A3 sized, so I had to make two scan's.

You're welcome.
Page 2 is the same schematic except for the rom's.
There are also a lot of pages about 8050/sfd1001/rom-versions/part-list etc.
