I've always meant to ask this: I have a Commodore 64 (breadbox) with a "Made in Canada" label on the underside, next to the serial number sticker.
Everything I've read / listened too / watched mentions the C64 being manufactured in the States, but not in Canada. Was there a Commodore assembly shop on this side of the border, or was this just a marketing thing (if a certain amount of the production budget - like packaging and shipping - was spent in Canada a company could claim "made in Canada" on their product)? Anyone know more on this subject?

Yes, but I'm not sure if they were actually manufacturing or just distributing machines in Canada - and maybe producing bilingual manuals, or something to this effect.rbernardo wrote:Well, there was CBM Canada in Ontario.

I'll try asking someone, like CBM engineer Bil Herd.judland wrote:Yes, but I'm not sure if they were actually manufacturing or just distributing machines in Canada - and maybe producing bilingual manuals, or something to this effect.
