See this board: the first c64 prototype ever?

Post by Silverlabel »

Hi there,

just check this out:

http://www.c-64.org/pics/mainboards/prototype_big.jpg

That looks like a very early c64 prototype. It has all the chips that were used in the later revisions of the C64, like 6510 and SID 6581,
but the VIC-II is a 6566 (same as in Max Machine). There´s also a sticker on the leftmost EPROM wich says "VIC-40 BASIC"

Maybe THIS is one of those five c64 prototypes that were shown on the Winter Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas back in 1982...?

If anyone has valuable informations on this board it would be nice if he or she could tell us.

Thanks in advance
