Activities other than CommVEx v3

Post by rbernardo »

People want to know what to do in Las Vegas other than CommVEx v3. For those who want to go on-the-cheap, I've found lots of coupons and free activities. Just go to http://www.google.com , input this exactly (with quotation marks)

"las vegas"+free

click search, and you will come across many websites with free and/or inexpensive things for Las Vegas.

Want to get married? Sure... Las Vegas has plenty of wedding chapels. You could be married with Elvis or a Klingon in attendance, among others. However if you want the marriage ceremony to be extra special, Charles Gutman, owner of 8-Bit Designs and a CommVEx presenter/vendor is a registered minister and can perform marriages. Think Commodore wedding! ;-)

The Pinball Museum, a.k.a. the Pinball Hall of Fame, is a worthwhile place to go when not participating in CommVEx fun. 4,500 sq. feet of arcade pinball machines... so many from which to choose... so many to play. Located at 3330 E. Tropicana (the other side of town), it is open from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sun.-Thur. and 11 a.m. to 12 midnight Fri.-Sat.. Say hi to Tim Arnold, curator of the museum and a person who advised me on getting CommVEx v2 off the ground last year.

At http://www.visitlasvegas.com , you can find the latest information on entertainment in Las Vegas. If you put in your arrival and departure dates into the site's form, you will get a listing of the shows that are happening on those dates. For example, I put in Friday, July 27 to Sunday, July 29, and got 13 pages of events, e.g., the International Dance Challenge at the Cashman Center (ah, last year's CommVEx roller-derby memories at the Cashman Center), jazz player David Benoit, comedian Jay Leno, rock star Joe Walsh, comedian Jon Lovitz, singer Martina McBride, singer Paul Williams, pop group Tears for Fears, singer Fergie, rock group Rush, singer Tanya Tucker, wrestlers in WWE Raw, comedian Carrot Top, singer Celine Dion, singer Barry Manilow, musical Monty Python's SPAMALOT, comedians Penn & Teller, comedian Roseanne Barr, dance production Stomp Out Loud, and musical The Producers. My favorite -- Spamalot (a musical retelling of Monty Python and the Holy Grail).

Must get half-priced tickets at the half-price ticket outlet,
