Other activities other than CommVEx

In the same hotel, on the same floor, on the same weekend, there will
be the giant 10th Annual Pinball Fantasy Show. For one admission
price, play all the pinball machines you want or buy pinball machines
in the Super Auction Room. http://www.pinballfantasyshow.com

Hang around Las Vegas until August 4-6 and attend the hacker's
convention, Defcon 14, at the Riviera Hotel & Casino.

On the other side of town, there is the Pinball Arcade Museum, too.

For skater girl, Jeri Ellsworth, (and others who are so inclined), the Crystal Palace Hotel & Casino has a roller-skating rink. Also there is the Mt. Charleston ice-skating rink (ooo, a welcome relief... Las Vegas will be roasting!).

Just found out today from the organizer of the Pinball Fantasy Expo that there is another show in the Plaza Hotel... Rollercon! Rollercon, a roller derby expo! The girls of Rollercon will show up at Pinball Fantasy (I wonder if I can get them to visit CommVEx?). Go to http://rollercon.com to find out more!

After Saturday CommVEx, eleven of us went to a Rollercon competition at the Cashman auditorium. The noise! The roller girls falling down! The roller girl who almost fell into us at the edge of the rink!!!! And Jeri gave a running narration of what was happening. :-) Afterwards, all eleven of us crammed into Yul Haasman's Pontian Aztec and headed off back to the Plaza Hotel. There, most had a midnight dinner.

After the Sunday show, some of us went to the Main Street Station Casino & Hotel for the buffet dinner there. Jeri Ellsworth, Bo Zimmerman, Eric Kudzin, Rik (?), and Earl and Ivy Williams then departed for parts unknown. :-)
