CommVEx v5 accomodations

Post by rbernardo »

Yesterday the room accomodations contract was signed. Yeah... you know the drill...

CommVEx v5 will be again at the classic Plaza Hotel & Casino, 1 S. Main Street, in fabulous downtown Las Vegas. The Plaza offers reasonably priced, nice, comfortable rooms. http://www.plazahotelcasino.com

For 2009 you only have until June 24 to reserve a room at the Plaza Hotel. Mention the CommVEx name when reserving your room so that you can get the special rates... and the rates are better than they have ever been!

A block of 10 rooms have been set aside for CommVEx. The rates are $47 per night Friday and Saturday for a single/double, and $29 for Sunday night for a single/double (all prices not including room tax). Each additional person above a double room is an extra $15, maximum of 4 persons to a room.

Hotel occupancy tax is 11%. Check-in time is 3 p.m.; check-out time is 11 a.m.. Reservations are to be confirmed through individual call-in prior to *June 24, 2009*, by calling the Central Reservations Department at 1 800 634-6575 option 1 and saying that you are reserving under the group name, CommVEx. After June 24, any rooms remaining unsold will be released back to the hotel, and the group rate may not be available. Note: Saturday arrivals are not accepted unless approved by the Director of Sales or Central Reservations Manager. (If you think you'll be arriving on Saturday, tell me, and I'll try to work out something with the Plaza.)

There will be a $50 refundable deposit required should you wish to bill phone calls, food, etc., to your rooms. This deposit will be used toward any unpaid incidental charges.

The Plaza has a 24-hour gambling casino, several restaurants including McDonalds and Subway, a showroom, tennis courts, a pool, and free parking. The Plaza Hotel lies at the foot of the glittery Fremont Street Experience. The Las Vegas Strip with its out-of-this world hotel casinos is a few miles to the south.

Somewhat changed from 2008,

Just a reminder that these rates are still in effect for CommVEx attendees.

For those wishing cheaper but still comfortable accomodations near the CommVEx venue, the alternative hotel is El Cortez Hotel & Casino, 600 E. Fremont St. in Las Vegas. When I stayed at the El Cortez, its decor evoked ideas of a traditional/vintage hotel of the 1960s.

A few blocks to the east of the the Plaza Hotel (the CommVEx venue), El Cortez Hotel offers Friday and Saturday nights currently starting at $41/night and Sunday night at $27, excluding room tax. Call 1 800 634-6703 or visit http://www.elcortezhotelcasino.com in order to book a room or to find out more information.

El Cortez Hotel offers amenities such as 2 buffet restaurants, a 24-hour coffee shop, a steakhouse, cocktail lounges and bars, a beauty salon, a barber shop, and a gift shop.

Only a few days more to reserve the Plaza Hotel rooms at the special rate. If you are coming to CommVEx, get your Plaza Hotel reservations in now.

Tax has now been increased to 13%. The $7.77 buffet is now $5.99 for breakfast, $7.77 for lunch, and $12.99 for dinner. Parking in the parking structure is $5 - refundable with receipt at the cashier's cage.
