I arrived into Las Vegas about an hour ago. I booked into the California Hotel & Casino and then walked across the street to the Plaza Hotel, our venue for CommVEx. Kelly, the sales manager, was there and showed me Ballroom 8. All the tables and chairs were set up around the perimeter, and I asked for chairs and a projector table for the center. Two walls are permanent, and two walls are "air" walls, and so, we'll string our extension cables and power strips to reach the latter. New to the room is adjustable lighting; it'll be nice to dim everything for when we use the projector screen. The rest of the area (other ballrooms) have been left open without closing their air walls, making for an enormous space before you get to Ballroom 8 buried in the back. They are left open for inspectors to do their thing (yes, final construction details are still going on). See a photo of the relatively empty Ballroom 8 at

Set-up on Friday is at 2 p.m. and not before. Nothing is to be tacked or taped to the walls or even to the doors. However, the tables can be decorated as you see fit.
At the California Hotel, you can contact me at (702) 385-1222, room 314.
Nearing dinner time,
