A bit early to talk about this, but here I go anyway. :) At the September SCCAN meeting, as I talked about how the stars aligned to have Leonard Tramiel and Bil Herd come to CommVEx in 2015, the club members gave me an idea to ask another C=/Amiga celebrity come to the next CommVEx. (Heh, I told them not to expect celebrities at every CommVEx.) Well, in October I met with that person and invited that person to come to CommVEx and show off the ******* :) That person smiled and did not rule out the possibility but couldn't decide at this early time, due to a busy schedule (hopefully, less busy next year).

This December a Silicon Valley engineer will show me a prototype of new Commodore/Amiga bit of add-on hardware. If all goes well, that hardware bit will be in production by CommVEx 2016 time. Expect a presentation when this hardware bit comes to fruition.

More presenters -

Louis Mazzei will demonstrate his "C64bit" - a 64-bit processor board with Windows XP, using a 16GB SATA SSD as the boot drive and a 128GB USB flash drive for storage, USB ports, ZoomFloppy device, and Keyrah board - all housed in a C64C case (which was surplus). He will show how easy it is to create and dearchive .D64's, .D71's, and .D81's.

Roger Van Pelt will have a video presentation on transferring files via null modem between a C128 with Novaterm 9.6 and a Linux desktop.

Truly,

Chris Brenner, developer of the the audio-recording program, Digimaster for the C64, makes his first visit to CommVEx. He will exhibit the SX-1200 which is a SX-64 case with an Amiga 1200 motherboard, Amiga floppy drive, and Amiga 600 keyboard. The SX1200 was last seen many, many years ago (2000?) at the Amiwest Show in Sacramento.

Also he has a surprise presentation,

Hardware developer Jim Drew returns to CommVEx this year and has a slew of new stuff to announce and to present. Not to be confused with the Leif Bloomquist Commodore Wi-Fi modem, Jim's C64/128 WiModem will be available, and it plugs into the user port, fully emulating a standard CBM/Hayes 300-57600 baud-capable modem. A small OLED screen is optional. Firmware is upgraded via the server, so a user can leave it plugged into the C64;128 and never need to remove it for upgrading firmware. The retail price is $44.95 w/o display and $54.95 with the display.

He will be demoing the uDrive (micro-Drive), a cycle-exact 1541 drive emulator. Under 1 square inch, the uDrive is designed to be fit inside the C64/128/SX-64 and allows the user to use .d64, .g64, or .scp image files (which means ANY disk, copy-protected or not).

Jim says, "It basically *is* a 1541 disk drive without the mechanical drive portion. It supports any type of ROMs (CBM, JiffyDOS, etc.) as image files. With just a firmware change I can emulate other drives, like the 1571, 1581, CBM hard drive, etc. It uses a micro-SD card for holding the files."

"It will be released as a 1541 emulator initially, with free firmware upgrades to make it a 1571, 1581, CMD hard drive, CBM hard drive, etc."

Being the distributor of the FPGA Arcade Replay, Jim will talk about the all new Amiga and C64 cores for that board. He also will talk about new firmware/software that will be released for SuperCard Pro that does disk-salvaging for 1541 disks. Last but not least, he is working on a new stereo SID replacement chip.

He will be donating several of his WiModems for the CommVEx raffle, and he will have them for sale as well, along with the other products he has.

Truly,

Roger Van Pelt will have another presentation on video - The Use of the Chalk Board PowerPad with Leo's Links. Leo's Links is a golf game - the game play being more akin to Artillery Duel than to golf.

I was informed today that Chris will not be able to make it to CommVEx this year. :( However, from Computer Station in Long Beach, California, Tony Chai will be able to come to the show on Sunday. Tony sells NOS Commodore, Amiga, and Apple II goods.

Getting ready for a long day of CommVEx setting-up,
