I saw our room, Jockey Room 2, yesterday. Everything looks the same as last year! Kelly the catering person and I rearranged some of the tables. The electrical spider box that came from the utility room won't be around this year, and so we won't have to open the door to the utility room (that open door let in lots of heat from the outside into our room).

The parking situation is the different from last year. Unless you are staying at the Plaza Hotel or unless you get your parking stub validated by a restaurant inside the Plaza, you'll have to pay $5.

Remember for easiest access to the Jockey Room 2, park on the third floor of the parking garage, walk across into the third floor of the hotel, go down the ramp, and turn left toward our room.

Even though I drank plenty of liquids yesterday, the heat still got to me after doing all my errands (into air-conditioned spaces and then into the heat and again and again). At the end of the day, I had a headache, took some aspirin, and went to sleep early at my hotel room.

Be careful in the heat,

As usual, Saturday was our most crowded day for CommVEx. As usual, everybody was happy to see each other. Surprisingly, several people thought we were in a bigger room than last year. I had to tell them that it was the same room but with less tables crowding the main floor.

On Saturday night, after the buffet dinner at the Main St. Station buffet restaurant, we headed back to the CommVEx room for late night talk and programming. On the projector I showed the classic Japanese sci-fi space movies, the Mysterians and Battle in Outer Space, followed by the third season Babylon 5 episode, Severed Dreams. I was prepared to show more, but many were heading out for sleep or to visit the clubs on the Fremont St. Experience. So, the room was closed at 12:30 a.m..

Sunday, our quieter day, had a slew of presentations crowded into the schedule, but we got through all of them except for my video presentation on Cassiopei. We cleared out of the room earlier than ever, at 7:30 p.m. instead of the usual 8:30 to 9:30, and this was due to many attendees helping out. Then we had our usual Sunday night dinner at the restaurant in the California Hotel near our Plaza Hotel.

I finally went to bed at 10:30 while others went back to the Experience to enjoy the sights. A more detailed report will come later.

Still in Las Vegas until Sunday,
