Simons' Basic EXTENSION available.

Post by CommodoreFan »

Everyone knows standard C64 basic V2. And most of you know Simons' Basic (SB) with 144 extra basic commands.
But only a few have heard of the SB Extension with another 91 basic commands and important bug fixes.

One little problem, it is on a tape. This meant long loading times and then it is not reset proof.
So i wanted to find a disk version but didn't succeed. Next step: crack the programm on tape.
In a joined effort we succeeded in doing so.

Now there is a .TAP file and a .D64 version. To use this SB Extension the SB cartridge MUST be installed.
Manuals can be downloaded from the DLH website.
SB manual (PDF)
SB Extension manual (PDF)
Send a mail to commodorefan?hccnet?nl (replace questionmarks) for the needed files and some extra info.

CommodoreFan for supplying the SB Extension tape and for scanning the manual (DLH)
iAN CooG for creating a disk version of the SB Extension software
HCC Commodore the Dutch Commodore users group for their support
...and the unnamed for copies of the original SB cartridge, disk and manual.

So, is this extension better than the TSB extension at

Oh, I remember this, at least I think I used this. It allowed you to remove line numbers and create references to named points in your Basic program like

Information:
..
..
Goto Information

Also, it removed the all-caps commands, and made them look like I just wrote 'em, making it easier on the eye to program.

I gotta go back to nostalgia country. Will see if I can share some of my old knowledge here :)

Heh, this is a Commodore computer forum. However, the only place that I can think of for spare parts for your computer is Japan.

I guess you guys have the oldest of all programs. That means you should also be having the LOGO, the thing that we used to do in MS dos. I remember using it when I was I second grade or so.

You can also get books on old programs from this site....
