There is an active DTV Hacking message board at the PETSCII Forums (http://forums.petscii.com/) and it's a great place to ask questions about modifying the DTV.

Also, the "Excellent General Info" and "Schematic" links don't work any longer. I've asked Jeff Ledger (the fellow that hosts the aforementioned site) about it to see if I can get you updated information.
