The Ultimate-64

Boing! Gideon Zweitgzer of 1541 Ultimate fame is now considering the Ultimate-64! A more radical redesign of the original C64 than the C64 Reloaded board, the Ultimate-64 is a FPGA implementation of the C64 and is still meant to fit within a C64 case. And it comes with the 1541 Ultimate built into it. See

Something went wrong with the link, here's another one:

It seems the port lines of CIA2 won't be won't be emulated, since the user port was replaced with modern interfaces.

I've waited a long time, but today I received an e-mail from Gideon saying that my order for the Ultimate 64 is ready. I have Paypaled the money. Now begins the anxious wait for the package in the mail. :)

The board is from Batch 3 with the latest firmware, v1.08 (though on the website it looks like 1.0B).

Speaking of the website, I go to https://ultimate64.com/Ultimate-64 for actual photographs of the board and more information.

Through all these months, the Ultimate 64 has been going through firmware updates. In a very significant update dated June 21, 2020, the U64 has been given Turbo Mode! You can dial in speeds from 1 MHz. up to a blistering 48 MHz.! It is now the fastest 6510 FPGA implementation of the C64 in the world!
