Yes, that's the only problem about living in Kuntucky, (I plan to get out ASAP) the closest user's club is 3 hours away! :x I go to The Other Group of Amigoids (TOGA) meeting, and that is 3 1/2 hours away. A long drive to that Amiga club. :-) I also made the 3-hour drive to attend CommVEx in Las Ve...

Fall Chicago Commodore Expo (ECCC) - Sept. 29, 2007

From: Jason Compton As the calendar marches onward, it becomes more and more apparent... The date for the Chicago area's autumnal Commodore ritual is fast approaching! I'd better remember to show up, as I'm obligated to pay for the space! http://starbase.globalpc.net/eccc/ for more information, but ...

CommVEx v4, July 26-27, 2008

Yes, that's right! Contracts signed, deposit made, accomodations reserved. The Commodore Vegas Expo is set for July 26-27 in Jockey Room 1 at the Plaza Hotel, 1 Main Street, in Las Vegas. Mark your calendars, plan you vacation time... think CommVEx v4 for next year. :-)

Re: Classic Gaming Expo the same weekend as CommVEx!

Just received an e-mail today from John Hardie, co-organizer of the Classic Gaming Expo. He wants to investigate the possibility of joining CGE and CommVEx together for 2008. No word back from John Hardie of CGE. Maybe our "requirements" were too high. ;-) Therefore, I am going ahead with...

Well, there are various differences between our 2 shows that need to be worked out.

Another thing, is there a way to rig a normal tape player to a C64 not to save data, but only to access it? Back in the day, there were ways to hook up cassette drives to the C64 via a joystick port. Of course, you'd have to have the special adapter for that. Or is there a way to convert the data o...

Did you ever get a response to that translation? No, not yet. But I have not been pushing it, because I was busy with CommVEx, and Mitch was prepping for his marriage (and is supposedly now married and doing newlywed things). If I make to a TOGA meeting in August or September, I will ask him again....

Re: CommVEx v3, July 28-29, 2007

Unfortunately, I didn't win any of the raffles... But I did get a Partner 128 cartridge as a door prize, so at least I didn't go away empty-handed. ;-) Yeah, there were lots of little door prizes. Sunday I had to rush and give out the last of the bunch. In fact, I have one more to deliver (or mail)...

How did you know?! ;-) I plan to meet with the Plaza Hotel people next Friday in order to set up CommVEx v4 (2008).

Re: CommVEx v3, July 28-29, 2007

Looks as if we'll have another SX-64 among the raffle prizes for next year. The SX-64 was a popular item in the raffle. 5C's member, Jeff Krantz, won it. We will have another 1581 for the raffle. Also after much discussion of whether to offer it at the November 4-5 Vintage Computer Festival or at C...

Re: Equipment needs for CommVEx v3

...I will be bringing the recently unearthed Lt. Kernal hard drive. Andrew checked out the Lt. Kernal on Saturday. A connecting cable had been hacked and thus wouldn't work on the only C64 we had at the show, Lenard Roach's. (However, we had scads of C128D's. :-) ) After further examination, Andrew...

Re: Equipment needs for CommVEx v3

Larry Anderson may have solved the need for a big-screen t.v.. He wants to buy a 26-32" LCD t.v. in Las Vegas. The Olevia HDTV worked well; the image was clear and rock-steady. If only it were PAL-compatible, too... Because our car was packed, we had to leave the Olevia behind, but it is being...

Each attendee at CommVEx v3 will receive a C64 disk of "Chevy Tech: the Heartbeat of America". :-) Those were passed out on Sunday, in addition to the FCUG newsletters that I distributed to every attendee. Also on Saturday, R.W. Bivens and John Campbell of Oldergames.com passed out the ne...

Re: A video tribute to Jim Butterfield

In honor of Jim, I will dig up video of him speaking at the Chicago Commodore Expo... At CommVEx on Sunday, I showed Jim Butterfield from the LUCKI Spring Expo 2005. The DVD-R was not in good condition... skipping of the video and sometimes the sound. I'll have to find the original Digital 8 tape a...
